Key updates 

  • We currently have 78 customers who are experiencing outages as a result of the bushfires. 
  • Additional lines crews are being made available across both regions to manage faults and connection requests for individual customers now power is restored. 
  • Yesterday an SMS was sent to customers in the Corryong area to advise that all HV supply is available and we are currently working through LV connections. We have asked customers with any connection issues to get in contact with us to resolve these as soon as possible. Further SMS to be sent to other areas today.

In the North

Last 24 hours

  • Corryong generator was removed yesterday.


Next 24 hours

  • ~25 customers remain off supply. Anticipating that all of these customers will be restored today.
  • Mount Mittamatite spur remains off mains supply to 3 telecommunications towers. They are currently being supplied by generators. 

In the East

Last 24 hours 

  • Meeting held between AusNet Services and DELWP teams to plan access in the Noorinbee to Genoa area. Assessment of the damage to tracks was completed. Damage not as extensive as initially estimated but tracks require clearing by DELWP. DELWP to provide anticipated commencement date today. 

Next 24 hours 

  • ~53 customers remain off supply (Goongerah, Bonang, Cann River, Genoa, Double Creek (Mallacoota), Noorinbee, Club Terrace and Combienbar), but no access available. 
  • Strategic plans to access areas with local ICCs to be developed. 
  • Supply is available to all other customers via mains or generator. 
  • Crews are demobilising from Mallacoota. A 2 man crew will remain for fault response and will be onsite later on today. Generator fuel is fully stocked. 
  • Contact from one customer in Noorinbee in need of petrol or a diesel generator. We have spoken to the customer this morning and are putting together a plan to assist. 

 

Challenges  

  • Ongoing access issues to areas in the East. 
  • Hazard trees remain a major concern throughout the East Gippsland fire area.

Next steps 

  • Focussing on planning and restoration for 51 customers in the East who we cannot get access to and are likely to be without power for an extended period.

Bushfire outage summary by town

Estimated dates for power restoration for each community in these updates are dependent on there not being further adverse developments in fires, weather or other conditions. The safety of our employees and the community is our number one priority and this may impact work to restore power.

CANN RIVER 2 21/01/2020 Crews are currently undertaking repair and replacement work in the area. Due to extent of repair works required in the area on some assests, restoration times for some customers has been extended beyond our initial assessment.
GENOA 1 Y 31/01/2020 Works are currently underway to repair damages to the network in the area. All customers are currently being supplied with electricity via a generator.
NOORINBEE 2 N TBC+12 days We are working with DELWP to gain safe access to the area. Initial assessment has revealed significant vegetation clearing will need to occur before we can begin efforts to repair and replace damaged poles. Estimated restoration will be updated once access granted and assessments completed.
CLUB TERRACE 8 N 10/02/2020 Assessment commenced 20/1 to assess damages to the network infrastructure as well as any fallen vegetation that requires clearing and is ongoing. Still some areas that are not accessible. Crews will be deployed to the area once these assessments have been complete. Estimated restoration times will be updated following assessment completion.
COMBIENBAR 19 N TBC+6 days Crews have not been granted safe access to area east of Orbost. Aerial inspection has identified significant damage to the network and at least 28 poles that need to be replaced. Estimated restoration times may change once access granted and assessments completed.
MALLACOOTA 1 Y Impacted customer being supplied with electricity via a generator.
MOUNT ALFRED 1 Y 23/01/2020 Works to repair damages to the high voltage network have been completed. Extent of works required to complete repairs to the low voltage network has extended restoration time beyond our original assessment. Crews are working to restore supply by the end of today (23/1).
COLAC COLAC 1 11/01/2020 23/01/2020 Works to repair damages to the high voltage network have been completed.
